Cody McCormick spent the entire regular season last year in the AHL and was a call up during the playoffs for three games and registered two assists. Those three games in the playoffs led to McCormick being resigned this season with the added benefit of a one-way contract. McCormick brings to the team a physical style of play which he showcased in the first preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
McCormick will bring to the table the same type of game night in and night out. He will come out and throw his body around and not be afraid to throw down when the chance comes. I expect the same type of play from McCormick that Adam Mair gave us last season, but with a better set of hands and a little better offensive awareness.

With the early play of Kassian and others, McCormick may not start the season but there is no reason that he won’t stay out of the lineup for long. McCormick will play a majority of the season which may be a concern considering he hasn’t played more than 55 games in an NHL season.
