A pretty good read on NHL.com about our young defenseman Mike Weber. I still think he may be a year or two away but at some point I think he will be better than Brooks Orpik. Orpik has had one good season and he is 27 years-old.

Maybe I'm the idiot here but this makes absolutely no sense to me. The Florida Panthers were looking for a new head coach and they hired Peter Deboer from the Kitchener Rangers and not Randy Cunneyworth. Now there is talk of him remaining with Rochester to coach the Panthers AHl affiliate. At least with the Sabres there is an opportunity, if Lindy Ruff ever leaves town, that he could take over as the head coach.

The Sabres continue to sign their young prospects. This signing is even more intriguing than most of the others because Persson was a guy that many had pegged to be a superstar. His development in Sweden seemed to stop and I wasn't sure he would be in the Sabres plans anymore. This was definitely the best thing that cold have happened for Persson and I'll be interested to see how he handles it.

The signing binge continues for the Sabres. Tim Kennedy is a local boy and he gets a ton of attention. People need to understand that Kennedy is not Patrick Kane and he is not even Lee Stempniak and allow him a little bit of time to develop into an NHL player. The potential is obviously there for Kennedy but he will need a couple of years of seasoning in the AHL.

In other news, it appears that the Sabres have informed Ben Breault that he is not in the teams future plans.
